Archives: FAQs

  • Do you treat wasp nests for homes and businesses?

Yes. We provide wasp nest pest control for homeowners, landlords, tenants and businesses across Hertfordshire, Essex, London and Cambridgeshire, including domestic properties, rental homes, shops, restaurants, offices and managed sites.

  • Can I remove a wasp nest myself?

We would not recommend disturbing or attempting to remove an active wasp nest yourself. Wasps can become defensive when the nest is disturbed, and DIY treatments can make the issue more difficult and more dangerous to deal with.

  • How quickly should I deal with a wasp nest?

It is best to get advice as soon as you notice repeated wasp activity around one area of your property. Wasp nests can become more active over time, especially in warmer months, and are safest to deal with before they become a larger problem.

  • Will all wasp activity stop immediately?

Some activity may continue for a short period after treatment as wasps return to the nest area. We will explain what to expect, what is normal after treatment and when you should contact us again if the activity does not reduce.

  • Do wasp nests come back in the same place?

A treated nest is not normally reused, but wasps may choose similar sheltered areas in future seasons if the property offers suitable nesting points. We can provide practical advice on areas to monitor and steps that may help reduce future risk.
By leaving the empty wasps nest in place it can discourage other wasps from starting another nest.

  • Should a wasps nest always be removed?

No. We normally recommend leaving the actual nest in place if possible and treating it to get rid of the wasps. Here is why:
    1. Leaving the nest in place can deter other queens from setting up a new nest next season.
    2. Wasp nests are made of chewed wood and saliva, which if built inside a wall cavity or in a ceiling can cause physically damage to your property when removed.

  • Does it cost more to remove the wasps nest?

Yes, during the first visit we will treat the wasps nest.
This will get rid of your wasp problem.
If you want the nest removing (which is not always essential) then we will need to revisit your property 2 days later to remove the nest.

  • Do you provide drain surveys for homes and businesses?

Yes. We provide drain survey support for homeowners, landlords, tenants and businesses across Hertfordshire, Essex, London and Cambridgeshire. This includes houses, flats, rental properties, shops, restaurants, offices, warehouses, managed buildings and multi-site commercial premises.

  • Why would I need a drain survey for a pest problem?

A drain survey is useful when pest activity keeps returning or there are signs that rats may be entering through the drainage system. Using a camera, the survey can identify damaged drains, open pipework, gaps, breaks or other hidden defects that may be giving pests access to your property. Once the problem area is found, the right treatment or repair can be recommended.

  • Can drain defects cause recurring rat problems?

Yes. Rats are known to travel through drainage systems and can enter properties through damaged pipework, cracks, open connections, redundant drains or poorly sealed areas. If these access points are not found and dealt with, rats may continue to return even after pest control treatment. A drain survey helps identify whether the drainage system is part of the problem.
